Streeters prevail over Osakis in girls' basketball semis

The Sauk Centre girls' basketball team defended an earlier defeat to Osakis with a 46-39 win Saturday in the sub-section 6AA North semi-finals. Macy Weller had 18 points and Jena Klaphake added 13 for the Streeters, who improved to 25-2 with the big win and will now face top-seeded Staples-Motley who beat Albany 62-57 earlier Saturday afternoon. Liz Ellens added 11 points for Sauk, who trailed at the half 22-20, but put up a strong defensive effort int he second half while making some key baskets. The sub-section championship is Tuesday at 6 p.m. at St. John's University. They'll face top-seeded Staples-Motley, who knocked Albany out of the tournament with a 62-57 win in the other semifinal.
