Streeters girls basketball, Prairie Centre boys hockey both win tonight

In a non-conference game between teams from the north and south halves of the West Central Conference tonight, the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters girls basketball team defeated visiting Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 57-35.
It was a rematch of last year's inter-conference game between the two teams, which was won by A-C-GC before the playoffs began. They were the respective winners of the north and south halves of the WCC in 2009-2010. (The Streeters tied for the conference title with NL-S, but won the tiebreaker to advance to the WCC playoff game.)

The Streeters girls basketball team improved to 9-1 overall with the win; A-C-GC fell to 5-3.

Up next for the Streeters girls basketball team: another home game, this week Friday, when they host Milaca in a West Central North Conference game. Milaca is 1-8 overall, having just lost 44-30 to Kimball Area tonight.

In boys hockey action, the Prairie Centre Area North Stars broke a tough four-match losing streak with a 4-3 win over River Lakes (3-6-1) in action held in Paynesville.

Prairie Centre improved to 4-8 with the win.

A noteworthy boys basketball result tonight: Minnewaska Area 64, New London-Spicer 62. The game was held in New London. Minnewaska trailed the Wildcats 32-29 at halftime.
