Hitting the new track for the first time ever

On Friday, the Mainstreeters track and field teams finally got out on their new track...after weeks of waiting and waiting for winter to subside.

Finally!

Mainstreeters softball drubs Benson to open season

Finally, the Herald has spring-sports related news to talk about! WooHoo!

Colleen LuGrain spun a one-hit shut out from the pitcher's circle during a 12-0 win for the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters softball team in their 2013 season opener at Benson on Thursday. They tentatively host Minnewaska Area (2-0) next Monday on the football stadium turf in the second West Central Conference game of the season. Their scheduled game against A-C-GC on Friday was cancelled. If Sauk Centre is unable to host Minnewaska on Monday, they will travel to Minnewaska Area that day to get the game in.

In Minnewaska's softball opener on Thursday, they hosted BOLD in a double-header and picked up 13-3 and 7-3 wins.

Also at Benson, the Mainstreeters baseball team opened their season on Thursday. They fell in a back-and-forth game 9-8 after a seventh-inning rally fell short. Sauk Centre trailed 9-6 going into the seventh inning. The Braves, also playing in their season opener, plated four runs in the sixth inning to erase a 6-5 deficit. Sauk Centre's next baseball game is next Tuesday at Bird Island against BOLD in WCC action.
