Mainstreeters baseball falls at home to Melrose Area

The Mainstreeters responded from a 2-0 deficit in the bottom of the first inning to plate four runs and go up 4-2 against visiting Melrose Area tonight in a West Central North Conference game.

The Dutchmen answered with a six-run second inning to go up 8-4 and never looked back as they earned a split in the regular season series with Sauk Centre in an 11-4 win.

Sauk Centre (8-7 overall) plays at Sibley East (Gaylord) in a tournament on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.

More will follow later.

**CORRECTION: Softball playoffs begin Friday

Someone at the MSHSL couldn't read a calendar properly and announced that playoffs in Sub-Section 6AA-West begin on Thursday (today).

Instead, the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters travel to Minnewaska on Friday for a 4 p.m. game.

It is unfortunate, but because of that, the Herald reported incorrect information last night.

Perhaps in the future we'll have to ask after we get playoff brackets, "Are you sure the dates are correct before we announce it to the world?"
