Watching Mainstreeter athletes advance to state will never get old

A candid shot of the Section 6A medalists, minus Mike Kluver, who was on the bus at the moment. Madison Greenwaldt is shown standing up in the photo, on her way to grab Mike.

More from Tuesday night's Mainstreeters baseball playoff game

Before I get too far on Section 6A track and field photos and video clips, I want to get caught up on adding more Mainstreeters baseball action.

What a day at the Section 6A track and field meet! Mainstreeter girls' squad earns section championship

In a nutshell...eight members of the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters track and field teams will compete in next week's Class A state meet on June 10-11 at Hamline University in St. Paul.

On top of that, the Mainstreeter girls' track and field team earned the Section 6A championship at Minnesota State University-Moorhead today.

Junior Elizabeth Hemsworth won the 400 open (59.23s) and the girls' 4x800 relay team of Madison Greenwaldt, Macy Weller, Rebecca Macey and Maren Greenwaldt won that event's title (9:55.01). A long list of Mainstreeters earned second, third or fourth place in multiple events, especially on the girls' side. That is the reason the girls won the team section title.

All told, Sauk Centre produced 13 medal winners on both the boys' and girls' side.

Below, Jacob Gerhartz crosses the finish line in one of today's final events at the Section 6A meet, earning the 2nd place medal in the 3200 meter run...

More to follow on Friday morning.

Mainstreeters baseball drops playoff opener to top-seeded Albany

(top) The Streeters line up for the National Anthem tonight at Ray Weber Field in St. Martin...(below) Senior Nick Hinnenkamp, who pitched in relief tonight, shown awaiting his sign.

A final score from St. Martin tonight: Albany 11, Sauk Centre 1 (6 innings). The Mainstreeters had multiple opportunities to score, but ultimately could only push one run across in the fifth inning.

Albany advances in the Sub-Section 6AA-West playoffs to face #4 seed Rocori.

A photo gallery with action scenes from the game is being uploaded to the Sauk Centre Herald website: http://saukherald.mycapture.com. I've got nearly 200 photos from tonight of both Sauk Centre and Albany players.

Sub-Section 6AA-West quarterfinal results:
Melrose Area 8, Minnewaska Area 4
Paynesville Area 3, New London-Spicer 1
Rocori 4, Litchfield 3
