Mainstreeters trail at halftime of Homecoming football game

At halftime, Paynesville Area has a 22-7 lead over the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters football team.

At Benson, Minnewaska Area has a 13-6 lead over the Braves.

Section 6A girls' tennis individual tournament is coming up

The Section 6A individual tournament is at Fitness Evolution in Sartell next Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 15-16. Mainstreeter athletes included in the tournament are:

  • Hope Schwinghamer seeded #18 and faces #16 seed Megan Wagner of Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta

  • Bethany Ellis seeded #6 and faces #11 seed Lauryn McLaughlin of West Central Area

  • Mariah Rieland and Kathryn Macey (doubles) seeded #3 and faces #14 seed Brittany Shircliff/Elizabeth Wippler of Parkers Prairie
  • Callie Rodenbiker and Jessica Rodenbiker seeded #10 faces #7 Hannah Freske/Jada Hoffman of Minnewaska Area

Mainstreeters girls' tennis falls in Section 6A semifinals

Melrose Area defeated the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters 5-2 in the section semifinals today in Sartell. The Dutchmen faced Osakis in the section championship, where the Silverstreaks won by a 5-2 score to advance to the state tournament for the second year in a row. Osakis ended Minnewaska Area's turnaround season earlier in the day in the other 6A semifinal by a 6-1 score.

Mainstreeter volleyball wins Perham tournament

The Sauk Centre Mainstreeters volleyball team won the Perham Tournament on Saturday in a tough crowd of teams that included Melrose Area and 10th-ranked Thief River Falls.

While going 4-0 on the day, the Mainstreeters defeated Roseau 25-14, 25-15, Mayville/Portland (N.D.) 25-11, 25-16, Perham 25-12, 25-16 and then TRF 25-20, 25-18.

TRF entered the tournament with a 10-3 record and the 10th spot in the latest Class AA coaches poll.

Sauk Centre puts a 23-0 overall record on the line next Tuesday when they host Paynesville Area in a West Central Conference match. The Bulldogs are 4-15 overall and 3-7 (8th) in the WCC standings.
