Swimming and diving 4th at section true team

The Mainstreeters girls' swimming and diving team finished 4th today out of nine teams at the Section 6A True Team meet in Alexandria. Coach Schreiner was extremely pleased with how well his team fared and at the number of season bests and strong finishes for numerous individuals and relay teams.

Here's Coach Schreiner talking after the meet:

Sartell-St. Stephen was the champion, with Melrose Area being runner-up.

Mainstreeters football loses at Paynesville

The Mainstreeters fell prey to one of the area's most prolific offenses in Paynesville on Friday night in a game that had over a two-hour lightning delay. At halftime, the Bulldogs led 38-0. Final score: Paynesville Area 60, Sauk Centre 6.

To close out the regular season, Sauk Centre hosts Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City next Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Falcons are 5-2 overall after trampling Yellow Medicine East 54-0 last night.

Swimming and diving team's Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser is underway

Four of the five seniors on the team hold ribbons for sale: Julie Bushard, Tiana Molitor, Sarah Nelson, Elise Zenzen.

The Mainstreeters will have Breast Cancer Awareness Night at their final home meet of the season next Tuesday against Holdingford starting at 6 p.m.

For the second year in a row, members of the girls' swimming and diving team are selling paper cancer awareness ribbons on which you can write names of loved ones affected by the disease (a survivor or a loved one who has passed).

Ribbons cost $1 and can be purchased from any team member. T-shirts are also for sale.

Last year the pool walls were lined with ribbons, and over $2,200 was raised for the cause. Three goals are in mind this year: (1) Raise $3,000 and the captains of the team (5 seniors) will get a pie in the face; (2) reaching $3,500 and coaches James Schreiner and Michelle Winters will take a "pie in the face", (3) if $4,000 is raised, secondary Dean of Students Don Peschel will take a "pie in his face" on top of the coaches doing it.

Come out to support two great causes next Tuesday: the girls' swimming and diving team and their cancer awareness fundraiser!
