The Sauk Centre Mainstreeters football team fell to the Dutchmen in a crosstown rival regular season finale Wednesday night in Melrose.

The teams battled in the cold fall night, and Sauk led 14-7 at one point before Melrose rallied to score 18 unanswered points for the win.

Sauk got a 41-yard touchdown run from Cody Bartkowicz and Roosevelt Austin caught a 15-yard pass from quarterback Patrick Knoblauch.

But Melrose rallied, led by quarterback Isaac Sawyer and wide receiver Tanner Klaphake. Klaphake had TD receptions of 66, 16 and 27 yards as melrose improved to 3-5 while Sauk fell to 2-6.

The Streeters will likely get the No. 7 seed in the 6AA section playoffs, but that won't be set in stone until Friday morning.

Stay tuned to find out section seedings and Sauk's opponent in the section quarterfinals next Tuesday.
