Mainstreeters baseball trails Foley before rebounding to pick up a big win

Heading into the bottom of the second inning, the Sauk Centre baseball team fell behind 5-0 to visiting Foley tonight in a non-conference game. In the bottom of the second, the Mainstreeters got two runs back to trail 5-2. They held the Falcons off the board in the third frame while scoring another run to make it 5-3 with three innings complete.

Tonight's game is being aired on BOB FM (105.5).

**Update...the Mainstreeters scored five runs in the fifth inning to take an 8-5 lead.

Final: Sauk Centre 11, Foley 5. The Mainstreeters improve to 7-6 overall and now prepare to host Minnewaska Area (5-10, 3-4 WCCN) next Tuesday in a West Central North Conference game.

Streeters baseball, softball both shut out by Paynesville - Boys' 4x100 relay sets new school record

The Mainstreeter boys' track and field team had a relay squad set a new school record at today's Dave Sieben Invitational in Melrose.

The old record of 46.2 seconds in the 4x100 relay fell. The new record is 46.06 seconds.

Mainstreeters girls' golf hosts Quadrangular meet

The Sauk Centre varsity girls' golf team is hosting a quadrangular this afternoon at the Sauk Centre Country Club. Other teams at the meet are Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, Melrose Area and Paynesville Area.

Mainstreeters baseball loses at NL-S

The Mainstreeters lost 5-3 in Spicer tonight after holding a 1-0 lead after one inning and a 3-1 lead through three innings of play. NL-S tied the game at 3-3 in the sixth inning and scored two in the top of the seventh.

Mainstreeters softball vs. New London-Spicer is postponed

Due to wet field conditions, the West Central North Conference softball game between Sauk Centre and New London-Spicer was postponed to Monday, May 14. Earlier today, it was reported that the game will be held on May 9.

First pitch is at Sauk Centre high school at 4:00 p.m.

Mainstreeters defeat Jaguars on the baseball diamond

At Elrosa, the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters won their second straight game in shut out fashion over the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars tonight in a non-conference game. Nate Mettenberg picked up the win on the mound while tallying 11 strikeouts against the B-B-E lineup. Final score: Sauk Centre 4, B-B-E 0.

The Mainstreeters are 6-4 overall, while the Jaguars fall to 7-6. It's Sauk Centre's first win against B-B-E since 2005, when they beat the Jaguars 8-2 in Elrosa. The two teams did not meet from 2007 to 2010, while the Jaguars beat the Mainstreeters in 2006 and 2011.

Sauk Centre travels to Green Lake Diamonds in Spicer tomorrow for a West Central North Conference game against the Wildcats. The JV game is at 5 p.m. in Spicer, with the varsity game to follow in the nightcap with a 7 p.m. scheduled start. NL-S is 3-6 overall and 1-4 in the WCC-North but well capable of upsetting the Mainstreeters.

Minnewaska Area, who joins Paynesville Area and Sauk Centre at the top of the WCC-North standings at 3-2 apiece, was tagged with a 9-8 loss by the Wildcats on Apr. 26.
