Tennis, swimming and diving both win

In a home match today, the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters girls' tennis team edged Montevideo 4-3 to improve to 8-1 overall and 2-0 in the West Central Conference. Next is the Alexandria quadrangulary on Saturday starting at 10 a.m.

Against St. Cloud Cathedral/St. John's Prep at home, the Mainstreeters girls' swimming and diving team picked up a nice 102-79 win. Their next meet is also at home when they entertain Alexandria next Tuesday at 6 p.m.

At Holdingford, the Mainstreeters girls' cross country team tied for 7th place in a nine-team event. Madison Greenwaldt led her squad with a sixth-place finish and a time of 17:04.61. The Mainstreeters boys' cross country team placed sixth out of eight teams and was led by Joseph Gerhartz's 13th-place finish with a time of 18:55.57. Next for the cross country teams is a meet a Long Prairie-Grey Eagle starting at 4:30 p.m.

Tennis wins, volleyball loses

At Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd for the West Central Conference opener, the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters girls' tennis team won 5-2 for their seventh win of the season. They host Montevideo on Thursday in another WCC match.

At Melrose tonight, the Mainstreeters volleyball team lost 3-1 to the state-rated Dutchmen in a WCC match. Game scores were 25-19, 21-25, 23-25, 16-25. Now 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the WCC, the Mainstreeters travel to Minnewaska Area on Thursday to face the 1-2 Lakers. Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta swept Minnewaska Area 3-0 tonight.
