West Central Conference tennis postponed

Due to rain and wet court conditions at Montevideo high school, the West Central Conference girls' tennis tournament is postponed. It's make up date is Saturday, Oct. 5.

Mainstreeters football spoils Benson Homecoming

Final score in Benson: Sauk Centre 27, Benson 7. The Mainstreeters led 27-0 at halftime. Quarterback Seth Otte passed for touchdown grabs of 63, 27 and 25 yards.

The first score was a catch by Seth Otte, and the last two were catches by Austin Nelson covering 27 and 25 yards. Austin Landkammer ran in the fourth touchdown in the second quarter from 10 yards out.

The Mainstreeters (4-1) had a solid ground game, piling up 174 rushing yards on 42 carries compared to 52 rushing yards by Benson ball carriers on 27 rushes. They were also very successful through the air, with Otte gaining 226 passing yards on 11-of-14 attempts with three touchdowns and one interception.
Nelson was the leading receiver with six catches for 111 yards.

Sauk Centre's defense was also very active through the night, gaining four quarterback sacks, two fumble recoveries and one interception.

Up next is Homecoming night for the Mainstreeters. Their opponent is Minnewaska Area, a team that won last night 34-6 over Montevideo.

Swimming and Diving breast cancer awareness fundraiser underway

Get your ribbons by talking to any member of the swimming and diving team. (Above) A few are shown for sale during a recent meet at the Sauk Centre pool.

The Sauk Centre girls' swimming and diving team's fundraiser culminates with a special night next Thursday (Oct. 3) when the Mainstreeters host Holdingford for a West Central Conference meet. More details will be announced as we get them, and an article on this will be in the Oct. 3 issue of the Sauk Centre Herald.

Mainstreeters volleyball beats Paynesville

The Mainstreeters volleyball team swept Paynesville Area in a West Central Conference match tonight. They improve to 15-2 overall and 9-0 in the WCC to maintain a one-match lead over Melrose Area (10-3).

Sauk Centre's next volleyball action is at home next Tuesday against Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa. The Jaguars are 9-3 overall.

Cross Country meet Tuesday

The Mainstreeters volleyball team defeated Montevideo in a road match tonight by a 3-0 score. They host Yellow Medicine East on Tuesday.

On Tuesday at Paynesville's Koronis Golf Course, the Mainstreeters cross country teams compete in a 12-team meet. The varsity girls' race starts at 4:45 p.m., while the boys' race starts at 5:15 p.m.
