This has a nice ring to it...both Mainstreeters' basketball teams win big tonight on the hardcourt

The Sauk Centre Mainsteeters girls basketball team picked up a big win over neighboring rival Holdingford 64-30 tonight on their home court. They are now 12-1 overall.

The Huskers (5-7) and Streeters are both in Sub-Section 6AA-East.

Up next for the Streeters girls basketball team: the short trip to crosstown rival Melrose Area on Friday night for a conference game against the Dutchmen.

The Sauk Centre Mainstreeters boys basketball team scorched the nets while getting quite offensive with the ball, lighting up Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City in an 84-68 non-conference win at Grove City tonight.

The Streeters boys basketball team is now 9-4 overall. They are in action this week Thursday when crosstown rival Melrose Area comes to town for a big conference and sub-section show down.

The Dutchmen are 6-7 overall, having just beaten Paynesville 77-55 in a non-conference border battle tonight.

Fun fact: On the minnesota-scores.net QRF rankings for Class AA, the Dutchmen and Mainstreeters boys basketball teams are right next to one another, with the Dutchmen at #62 and the Streeters at #63 out of 127 teams.

While it's way to early to be talking about playoffs and it's only the first meeting this season between the two teams, one cannot overlook the fact that whoever wins Thursday night's game will have the inside track on a top four seed in Sub-Section 6AA-East. The game is huge!
