Ten-inning marathon is won by the Mainstreeters baseball team

The Mainstreeters gather for the post-game huddle while celebrating their first playoff-opening win since 2008.
In a 10-inning outing tonight for the opening round of the Sub-Section 6AA-West playoffs, the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters baseball team edged 5th-seeded Pequot Lakes 3-2 to advance into the semifinal round.

Nick Adams hit a two-out two-RBI double in the first inning to put the Mainstreeters ahead 2-1. Pequot Lakes scored an unearned run to tie it 2-2 in the top of the 2nd for a score that stood until the bottom of the 10th inning.

In the bottom of the 10th, senior Michael Knoblauch crushed a two-out walk-off RBI-single to deep center field to score Josh Buschette from third base. (Yeah, we got it on video, and that will be posted later tonight after uploading is complete)

Be sure to read more about the exciting win in this week's Sauk Centre Herald.

Sauk Centre, now 11-8 overall, now prepares to face top-seeded Long Prairie-Grey Eagle at 5 p.m. at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud tomorrow night (May 30). LP-GE, now 18-3 overall, barely got past Minnewaska Area in their quarterfinal round game that they won 6-5 over the 8th-seeded Lakers.

Stay tuned for more coverage.

**Update at 9:39 p.m...Minnesota-scores.net is reporting that Albany defeated Little Falls 3-2 in 8 innings tonight in a Sub-Section 6AA-East semifinal game. It would be an epic upset if that's true, as Little Falls entered the contest with a 20-1 record.

Section 6AA baseball scores on May 29:
St. Cloud Cathedral 6, Paynesville Area 0 (East sub-section semifinal)
Melrose Area 3, Staples-Motley 1 (Dutchmen upset the #2-seeded Cardinals)
LP-GE 6, Minnewaska Area 5
Wadena-Deer Creek 3, Ottertail Central 2 (8 innings)
