Two to state!

The Mainstreeters golf teams are sending two athletes to next week's Class 2A state golf meet.

Junior Carter Kranz fired a 79 today in the Section 6AA finals to earn a spot from the boys' team; freshmen Morgan Kranz had a huge drop from 93 on Monday while shooting an 80 today and advance to state from the girls' squad.

The Class 2A state golf meet is on June 10-11 at the Sand Creek golf course in Jordan.

Mainstreeters girls' golf finishes 3rd in WCC

In the 10-team West Central Conference final standings, the Mainstreeters girls' golf team finished in third place with 70 points. Minnewaska Area went 10-0 against WCC competition and won their 10th straight conference title. BOLD was second with 90 points, while Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta was fourth with 63 points. Morgan Kranz earned All-West Central Conference status with a fifth-place finish in the final individual standings. Up next: an 18-hole invitational at GreyStone Golf Club next Thursday at 1 p.m.

Two senior girls' golfers guide team to success

Outgoing seniors Kathryn Macey and Mariah Rieland provided strong senior leadership during a very successful season for the Mainstreeters girls' golf team. They ended in third place in the 10-team West Central Conference, the highest finish for the team in many years. Both were key players in last fall's Mainstreeters girls' tennis team that finished with a stellar 15-7 overall record and a runner-up finish (6-1) in the West Central Conference.

Kranz paces the Mainstreeters girls' golf at Melrose

Morgan Kranz shot a 47 to lead the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters girls' golf team at at West Central North Conference meet in Melrose on Monday night. As a team, the Mainstreeters took fourth place with a 208.

Mainstreeter girls' golf takes third at WCC-North meet at Minnewaska

At a West Central North Conference meet at Minnewaska on Friday night, the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters girls' golf team earned third place in the six-team field with a score of 212.

Mainstreeters girls' golf hosts Quadrangular meet

The Sauk Centre varsity girls' golf team is hosting a quadrangular this afternoon at the Sauk Centre Country Club. Other teams at the meet are Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, Melrose Area and Paynesville Area.

Kranz leads Mainstreeters girls' golf at Albany

Morgan Kranz, a seventh grader, led the Sauk Centre girls' golf team in their fourth-place finish today at the Albany Golf Course in the third West Central North Conference meet of the year. The Mainstreeters shot a 216 as a team. Kranz fired a 45 as one of 11 golfers to finish with a score in the 40s. Minnewaska Area's Jenna Janu was medalist with a 39.

Against the sixth-ranked team in Class 1A, the Mainstreeters baseball team lost 12-3 today to fall back to .500 on the season. They face another solid Class 1A team tomorrow when they travel to Elrosa to face the 6-4 Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars. B-B-E lost 4-3 in a nail biter at Holdingford earlier tonight.

Laura Hintzen wraps up highly successful golf career at Sauk Centre high school

At Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan today, for day two of the Class AA state girls' golf tournament, Sauk Centre senior Laura Hintzen shot a 45 and a 49 to finish with a two-day score of 186. The result was good for a tie for 53rd place out of 88 athletes in the field.

A year ago in her first state appearance, Hintzen shot a two-day score of 205 to tie for 69th place out of 88 golfers.

Congratulations to Laura for a highly successful golf career at SCHS!

Hintzen comes in with a strong first day score at the Class AA state girls' golf meet




Sauk Centre's Laura Hintzen, in her second straight state appearance, shot a 49 on the front nine and 43 on the back to come in for a three-way tie at 46th place out of 88 golfers in Class AA today at Jordan.

Six-time state champion Minnewaska Area sits in third place overall with a 345. The top team in Class AA, Detroit Lakes, has a 329. Red Wing has a 330.

Hintzen is state-bound once again

On a blistering hot day for round two of the Section 6AA meet, Sauk Centre senior Laura Hintzen earned a spot in the upcoming Class AA girls' state golf meet. Hintzen placed fifth overall out of all golfers in the section field, earning a two-day scorecard total of 171 at Wapicada Golf Course in St. Cloud.

The Class AA golf meet is at Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan, coming on June 15-16.

On the boys' side, junior Dan Perry led the Mainstreeters at the Section 6AA meet. Perry, a junior, shot an 82 the first day at sections and a 100 on day two. Carter Kranz, an eighth grader for the Mainstreeters, barely missed the cut to advance to day two at sections by shooting an 86 on day one.

Senior Laura Hintzen sits in a first place tie after round one of Section 6AA golf is complete

Mainstreeters girls' golf team senior leader Laura Hintzen and Taylor Grimm of Hinckley-Finalyson are leading the field at the Section 6AA meet. Each holds a score of 84.

The meet is being held at Wapicada Golf Course in St. Cloud.

Mainstreeters baseball puts up valiant effort vs. ranked St. Cloud Cathedral - Hintzen is co-medalist at WCCN meet

In a final score from the MAC in St. Cloud, the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters baseball team lost 3-0 to Cathedral High School in a West Central North Conference game.

Senior Laura Hintzen earned co-medalist honors at New London today in a West Central North Conference meet. Hintzen shot a 41 to tie Kelsey Ocendorf of St. Cloud Cathdral for top individual honors. Her strong leadership this spring led the Mainstreeters girls' golf team to a third place finish in the nine-team WCCN.

Hintzen is conference meet medalist at Foley

Senior Laura Hintzen earned medalist honors at the West Central North Conference meet held in Foley on Thursday. She shot a 40 on the par-36 nine-hole course. As a team, the Mainstreeters girls' golfers placed second with a score of 188. St. Cloud Cathedral won the meet with a 178.

Mainstreeters girls' golfer Laura Hintzen, in her junior season on the links for Sauk Centre, finished in a two-way tie for 69th place at the Class 2A golf meet this week in Jordan.

Her two day scores were 52-52 and 53-48 for a total of 205.

A total of 88 girls golfers competed in Class 2A this season.

Hintzen qualifies for the Class AA state golf tournament

Junior Laura Hintzen finished fifth individually at the Section 6AA girls' golf tournament on Thursday. She carded a 179 (86-93).

On the boys' side, Dillon Rieland lost a four-person playoff for a state trip.

*Update on June 8 - Laura will tee off at Ridges at Sand Creek Golf Course, at 7:57am on Wednesday, June 16 and Thursday, June 17 in the Class AA state golf tournament.  She will start on the back nine.

Mainstreeters girls golf is sixth at home conference meet

West Central North Conference team scoring at the Sauk Centre Country Club:

Alyssa Kalthoff of St.Cloud Cathedral was medalist with a 39.

In boys' golf action... at the Spring Brook Golf Club in Mora, the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters' boys golf team finished in fourth place with a team score of 175.

Team boys' golf scoring at Mora: 1. St. Cloud Cathedral 154; 2. New London-Spicer 163; 3. Albany 169; 4. Sauk Centre 175; 5. Milaca 180; 6. Melrose 183; 7. Mora 188; 8. Foley 200.

In girls' fastpitch action...the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters' fastpitch team fell to visiting Long Prairie-Grey Eagle on Monday to fall to 2-8 overall. Senior Rachel Gruber went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Mainstreeters' offense.

On Tuesday night, Melrose Area won their first fastpitch game of the season 4-3 over Milaca (6-5) in West Central North Conference action.
