Streeter baseball squad splits doubleheader


The Sauk Centre baseball squad won the first game Monday night 4-1 behind a strong pitching outing from Josh Buschette. Buschette, who was coming off a complete-game win against BOLD last week, tossed four innings of one-hit ball.
Will Funk was 2-for-3 for the Streeters with 2RBI and a stolen base.
Sauk scored three runs in the first inning on RBI hits by Nate Mettenburg and Danny Schmiesing. Phillip Moe pitched in relief and allowed one earned run. Nick Adams pitched a scoreless sixth for his first save of the season.
Game 2
Sauk once again led 4-1 but Montevideo had three runs in the fourth inning to tie the game at 4-4. Sauk went ahead in the sixth when Matthew Moritz singled home Adam Froseth, but Montevideo score dint eh bottom of the sixth on a two-out base hit, steal of second and then another single. They got the first two runners on in the bottom of the seventh when they tried a sacrifice bunt. Nick Adams fielded the bunt and tried to get the lead runner at third, but threw it past Will Funk to allow the game-winning run to score.
The Streeters are now 2-3 on the year and 1-1 in the WCC North. They will play Melrose Thursday in Melrose.

Nick Adams pitched a scoreless sixth inning in game one to record the save.

Will Funk was 2-for-3 with two RBI in Sauk's 4-1 win over Montevideo.
