Ellis battles at state tennis meet

Bethany Ellis was one of three seniors on this year's Mainstreeters girls' tennis team.

Bethany Ellis's run at the Class 1A state tennis meet started out with a very competitive 4-6, 3-6 loss to #3-seeded Lauren Kozikowski of the Breck School in her opening match today.

In the consolation bracket, Ellis lost 4-6, 2-6 to Claire Christian of United South Central school.

For the Mainstreeters girls' tennis team, losing Ellis to graduation will leave a big hole to fill. Her strong play at four, two and one-singles over the last three seasons was a big part of why they were able to win 44 team matches.
