Softball rallies past Montevideo

The Mainstreeters softball team scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to rally past Montevideo in a 5-4 win on Friday. The Thunderhawks (11-8) had pulled ahead 4-3 in the top of the eighth. With the win, Sauk Centre improved to 10-6 overall, which marks the most regular season wins since the 2010-2011 season when they took a 10-9 overall record into the playoffs. In the West Central North Conference, the Mainstreeters finished 9-4 to take third place. (See full conference standings below)

On Thursday Sauk Centre earned the No. 4 playoff seed in Sub-Section 6AA-West. They host West Central South Conference co-champion Paynesville Area on Monday at 4:30 p.m. in the quarterfinal round. A win lands them a spot in the semifinals, which will be next Thursday.
