Sauk Centre Mainstreeters girls tennis and volleyball both record wins in West Central North Conference action

On Tuesday night, the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters volleyball and girls tennis teams defeated their respective West Central North Conference opponents.

The Streeters girls tennis team won a close battle with neighboring rival Melrose Area in Melrose by a 4-3 margin. Kady Buschette of Sauk Centre won her No. 2 singles match 6-7 (7-9), 6-1, 7-5 and Krystal Heinen won the No. 3 singles match 3-6, 6-1, 7-5 as the Maroon (3-0, 14-2) edged Melrose.

Sauk Centre girls tennis improves to 3-0 in the WCCN and 14-2 overall. Their next match is at Long Prairie on Thursday night against conference rival Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Upsala-Swanville Area. The Thunder are 8-7 overall and 1-1 in the WCCN.

Kali Peschel, shown in attack mode at the UM-Morris tournament on Saturday, had a solid all-around game against Foley last night, tallying five kills, two ace serves, four blocks and six digs. She was named MVP of the Stacy Polzine McIntyre tournament at UMM, joining her teammates Krista Primus and Shelby Deters on the All-Tournament squad.
Over in Foley, the Streeters volleyball team swept the host Falcons 3-0. Game scores were 25-14, 25-20, 25-17. Macy Weller led the offensive attack with 11 kills to go along with 7 ace blocks, while Jena Klaphake distributed 17 set assists.

Sauk Centre volleyball improves to 7-2 overall and 2-1 in the WCCN. They host Milaca in a WCCN match this Thursday night. The Wolverines are 5-4 overall and 0-2 in the WCCN after going 3-2 this past weekend in the Ogilvie tournament and getting swept 3-0 last night by Albany.

**Also coming up on Thursday...the Streeters Girls Swimming and Diving team will travel to Albany for a conference meet beginning at 6:00pm.
