Dutchmen down Streeters

The Sauk Centre football squad saw their playoff hopes diminish Friday with a 41-26 loss to Melrose. The Streeters led 14-0, but Melrose scored 26 unanswered points as they won between the crosstown rivals.
Trailing 26-14, Sauk Centre's Cody Bartkowicz returned a kickoff for a TD in the third quarter to pull Sauk to within a touchdown at 26-20. But Melrose answered with two consecutive TDs to go ahead 41-20 before Bartkowicz scorted his second touchdown of the game late in the fourth quarter to make it 41-26.
Sauk centre had trouble stopping Melrose's passing game.
Both Bartkowicz and sophomore running back Roosevelt Austin had two scores for the Streeters.
Senior linemen Joe Bromenshenkel was injured in the game and was taken to the hospital for observation. Bromenshenkel was tended to on the sidelines after complaining of a sore temple after taking a hit during the game.
