Playoffs!

Coach T.J. Schmiesing and his Mainstreeters 17-U team huddled up during the Brandon/Evansville doubleheader.

The Mainstreeters 17-U softball team begins the West Central League playoffs tonight with a home game at 6:15 p.m. Sauk Centre, seeded two, faces third-seeded Royalton.

Earlier, Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa and Eagle Valley play at 5 p.m. in a game also held in Sauk Centre.

A second game will be played at 6:15 p.m. between top-seeded Melrose Area and the winner of the 5 p.m. game.

At 7:30 p.m., the winning teams from 6:15 p.m. face one another, and the losing teams from 6:15 p.m. also square off. The losers are eliminated, while the winner of the 7:30 p.m. game between the winning teams advances to the championship game on Thursday at Osakis at 7 p.m.

Softball scrimmage coming

Shown is the football stadium on Friday, Apr. 4.

The Sauk Centre Mainstreeters softball team will hold a scrimmage against Kimball Area on Monday at 4:30 p.m. on the JV softball field.

According to head coach T.J. Schmiesing, his varsity squad has held four practices on the turf so far this spring. The baseball team has also been on the turf.

Mainstreeters U-17 softball 2nd in league playoffs

After shutting out second-seeded Long Prairie-Grey Eagle in the first round of the U-17 softball league playoffs on Thursday, the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters lost a close game to Alexandria in the finals to finish a great summer season with an 8-4 final record.

Mainstreeters softball falls out of playoffs

Top-seeded Pequot Lakes defeated Sauk Centre in the semifinal round of the Sub-Section 6AA-West tournament today at Minnewaska.

In the elimination bracket, the Mainstreeters lost 13-3 in five innings to Minnewaska Area. Sauk Centre finishes the season 9-8 overall, with a 1-2 showing in the playoffs.

In a double-header at Minnewaska tonight, the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters baseball team lost 3-2 and 7-3 to the Lakers. They were outhit 11-4 in the second game and suffered four errors compared to only two by Minnewaska. They host Melrose Area on Friday in the last game of the regular season.

Mainstreeters softball late rally falls short vs. Minnewaska Area

A four-run fifth inning gave the Mainstreeters softball team hope against visiting Minnewaska Area today, but the Lakers shut the door in the last two innings and left town with a 7-4 win in West Central North Conference action.

Up next: a trip to Olivia to face the BOLD Warriors in a double-header on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Home opener for Mainstreeters softball today

The Activities Director office confirmed that the home opener will take place today for the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters softball team.

First pitch against neighboring rival Minnewaska Area (2-0) is at 4 p.m.

The baseball game against Albany is postponed.

Mainstreeters softball vs. New London-Spicer is postponed

Due to wet field conditions, the West Central North Conference softball game between Sauk Centre and New London-Spicer was postponed to Monday, May 14. Earlier today, it was reported that the game will be held on May 9.

First pitch is at Sauk Centre high school at 4:00 p.m.

Mainstreeters softball shuts out B-B-E

Junior Colleen LuGrain pitched a four-hit shut out against Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa on the home diamond Tuesday night. Her efforts helped the Mainstreeters softball team improve to 4-3 on the season with their second win in a row.

They next host Melrose Area (3-6) on Thursday at 5 p.m.

Mainstreeters Baseball loses hard-luck extra-inning game; Softball wins at Paynesville

In their second straight home game to start the season, the Mainstreeters baseball team lost 7-3 in 8 innings to Paynesville Area tonight.

At Paynesville, the Mainstreeters softball team defeated the host Bulldogs to move to .500 on the season. They are 2-2 overall and 2-2 in the West Central North Conference.

Mainstreeters get #5 seed for upcoming softball playoffs

In the upcoming Sub-Section 6AA-West softball playoffs, the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters received the #5 seed out of eight teams. The Mainstreeters take a winning record into the playoffs for the first time since 2007, when they were 8-7 after the regular season was complete.

This year, their opponent will be Paynesville Area, who is seeded number four. The Bulldogs will host Sauk Centre this Friday, May 20, at 5 p.m.

Mainstreeters baseball, softball teams both win on the diamonds today

In a come-from-behind effort, the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters baseball team used a seventh-inning rally to overcome Osakis today in a non-conference border battle. The Streeters plated four runs in the top of the seventh to win 10-8.
Today on the home diamond, the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters defeated Long Prairie-Grey Eagle 3-1 to improve to 10-7 overall on the season and 9-7 in the West Central North Conference.

Today's win guarantees the Mainstreeters their first winning regular season since 2007. That year, they went 8-7 heading into playoffs, where they bowed out in the first round in a 4-3 loss to Staples-Motley.

Tomorrow the Streeters travel to Mora for a double-header.

Also tomorrow, the Mainstreeters track and field teams will compete at the West Central North Conference meet in Milaca. The meet begins at 3:30 p.m.

Mainstreeters softball recovers from tough loss to Minnewaska with a double-header sweep over New London-Spicer in conference action

Picking up wins number eight and nine on the season today, the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters softball team defeated New London-Spicer on the home diamond by scores of 6-1 and 8-6. The Wildcats fall to 5-9 overall.

Now 9-5 overall, the Streeters prepare for a tough rematch with Albany at home this Thursday at 5 p.m.

At Green Lake Diamond in Spicer, the Mainstreeters baseball team lost two games in a West Central North Conference double-header by scores of 5-3 and 12-1. The Streeters now travel to Albany on Thursday and host Mora on Friday.

Streeters softball is cooled off by Minnewaska Area

Winners of five in a row coming into today's non-conference game at Minnewaska Area, the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters softball team lost 12-4 to the Lakers (14-1).

Both teams are in Sub-Section 6AA-West.

The Streeters (7-5) held a 4-2 lead after four and a half innings were complete, when Jena Klaphake hit a two-out, two-RBI single. They now prepare to host New London-Spicer tomorrow at 4 p.m. in a key sub-section double-header with the Wildcats (5-7).

NL-S, like Minnewaska Area, is also in Sub-Section 6AA-West.
