Nightmare plays out in Morris
Final score in tonight's football game: Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 41, Sauk Centre 8. The 18 senior Tigers came to play tonight!

Game night! It's time for some football
One team will leave Big Cat Stadium in Morris tonight with their first loss of the season.
Granted, at 2-0 apiece, it's not that high of stakes...or maybe it is.
The 10-team West Central Conference brings an imbalanced schedule in football, meaning that one team just might run the table throughout and win the title outright. My bet is that team will be either Sauk Centre, BOLD or tonight's opponents for the Mainstreeters: Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta.
The MA/CA Tigers have 18 seniors on the roster, and they badly want to win a conference title and get to the Class 2A state tournament. They have three bruising running backs lining up behind senior quarterback Jake Torgerson. (He happens to be the son of long-time and highly-successful boys' basketball coach Mark Torgerson of Morris.)
On the other side of the line of scrimmage will be our very own Sauk Centre Mainstreeters, who are looking to erase memories of many seasons of sub-.500 football and post not only a winning record but also drive deep into the playoffs as they did in 2011.
Tip off is at 7 p.m. on the campus of the University of Minnesota-Morris. Highlights of the game will be posted late tonight with a follow-up tomorrow morning.

Streeter volleyball sweeps MA/CA
The Sauk Centre volleyball team continued its winning ways in the West Central Conference, as they swept Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta tonight in three games. The Mainstreeters are 8-0 overall and 4-0 in the WCC.
They now prepare for a tough field at the Sauk Rapids-Rice tournament on Saturday. Neighboring and section rival Melrose Area is there as well, and the two just may well meet up at some point in the day.
In girls' tennis action, the Mainstreeters lost on the road to state-ranked Melrose Area 7-0. Two matches went into a third set to decide an outcome - number one singles and number one doubles. The Dutchmen girls' tennis team is 11-2 overall and ranked ninth in the latest coaches' poll. Their losses have been to Osakis (#7 in Class A) and Class AA Alexandria.
In a West Central Conference girls' swimming dual, the Mainstreeters hosted Melrose Area and fell 114-72. Sauk Centre junior Tiana Molitor broke the pool record in the 200 freestyle.
At a cross country meet in New London-Spicer, the Mainstreeters boys' squad earned sixth place out of 14 teams with a score of 190. Holdingford won the boys' and girls' team titles.
Maren Greenwaldt led the Mainstreeters girls' team with an individual finish of seventh place and a time of 15:57.54.

Streeter girls' tennis edges Minnewaska
The Mainstreeters defeated visiting Minnewaska Area 4-3 on Tuesday to improve to 3-0 in the West Central Conference and 11-2 overall.

Streeter volleyball serves notice in the West Central Conference
In the new one division West Central Conference, the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters are setting themselves up as favorites to win the volleyball title this year with three easy victories over Minnewaska, Benson and Paynesville early this season.
This week the Mainstreeters (7-0) host Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta (3-4, 1-1 WCC) in a conference match on Thursday night. Two days later they compete at the Sauk Rapids-Rice Invitational.
