Sauk Centre U-14s splits with Osakis

In a U-14 softball doubleheader in Sauk Centre on Tuesday, the Mainstreeters earned a split with Osakis in league play.

The U-17 team hosts Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa on Thursday with a 6 p.m. start time.

17-U softball team hosts B-B-E on Thursday

The Sauk Centre Mainstreeters U-17 softball team hosts Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa on Thursday night in a league game beginning at 6 p.m. The regular season schedule for the Mainstreeters is almost complete. They host Royalton on July 18 to end the season and prepare for the playoffs.

The league post-season tournament is on July 25 in Long Prairie. The top six teams qualify, and the top two seeds have a first-round bye.

Teams in the league are Osakis, B-B-E, Sauk Centre, Browerville, Royalton, Alexandria (16-U) and Long Prairie-Grey Eagle. Melrose Area was a member of the league, but their team folded two weeks ago, leaving seven teams remaining.

New head coaches named

T.J. Schmiesing is the new head coach of the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters softball team.

For cross country, Rachel Gerhartz replaces now-retired Tom Trutna as head coach.

Coach T.J. Schmiesing is the new head coach of the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters softball program. He is busy this summer guiding the U-14 and U-17 fastpitch softball teams during their summer league schedule.

Two senior girls' golfers guide team to success

Outgoing seniors Kathryn Macey and Mariah Rieland provided strong senior leadership during a very successful season for the Mainstreeters girls' golf team. They ended in third place in the 10-team West Central Conference, the highest finish for the team in many years. Both were key players in last fall's Mainstreeters girls' tennis team that finished with a stellar 15-7 overall record and a runner-up finish (6-1) in the West Central Conference.
