Senior Kady Buschette and junior Mariah Rieland lost out of the Class A state tennis meet today with a 2-6, 5-7 outcome against Samantha Silcox (12) & Taylor Gunderson (10) of Virginia.Jacob Gerhartz and Madison Greenwaldt will represent Sauk Centre at the Class A state cross country meet on Nov. 5 at Northfield College in St. Olaf. They advanced individually out of the Section 6A meet last night at Long Prairie.
Gerhartz won the boys' section title with a photo-finish effort at the end of the race. He ran a time of 15:35.09 to edge fellow senior Daniel Borash of Royalton, who ran a 15:36.89.
Greenwaldt finished eighth individually with a time of 14:44.06. Senior Elizabeth Hemsworth was edged at the finish line by Madi Sachs of Albany (10th place, 14:46.07) for the final spot advancing to state. Hemsworth finished 11th with a time of 14:47.14.
