Streeter volleyball sweeps Melrose Area - Swimming and Diving defeats Cathedral

Sauk Centre's volleyball team won game one 30-28! Then they defeated the Dutchmen 25-14 and 25-10 to earn a sweep and improve to 2-0 in the West Central North Conference. The Mainstreeters (7-0 overall) will host New London-Spicer this week Thursday in another conference match. This is a change from the regular season schedule.

After hanging on for the 30-28 win in game one, the Mainstreeters clawed back and forth with the Dutchmen past a 9-9 tie, ultimately going up 22-13 before taking a 25-14 win. Game three was all Mainstreeters, as they jumped out to a commanding 17-6 lead and never looked back. Macy Weller and fellow junior Brianna VonWahlde both earned kills for the Mainstreeters' final two points of the match in a 25-10 game three win.

Sauk Centre improved to 7-0 overall, while Melrose fell to 3-1.

After defeating the I-94 rival Dutchmen, Coach Klaphake praised his team's performance in beating a tough conference opponent. He cited the new feature on this year's team, the use of a jump serve by multiple players, as one reason for the early success they've had.
