Mainstreeters' girls basketball team's perfect conference mark stays intact - barely

Visiting Mora gave the Sauk Centre Mainsteeters girls basketball team all they could handle tonight in a West Central North Conference match up on the Streeters' home court.

When the third buzzer of the night sounded, the Mainstreeters had prevailed by a final score of 72-69 in overtime.

Mora (15-6, 10-4 WCCN) was on an eight-game winning streak, dating back to their last loss on January 21 to New London-Spicer. NL-S survived the long trip east by winning 53-45 on that night.

The Mainstreeters boys basketball team hosted Mora in the second game of the boys/girls doubleheader at Sauk Centre High School. They prevailed over the Mustangs 69-60, improving to 15-5 overall and 9-3 in the West Central North Conference. They are one game out of first place in the conference, behind Long Prairie-Grey Eagle (10-2). LP-GE is 15-4 overall, having just been tagged with a loss last night by visiting Minnewaska Area 43-41. The Lakers (19-2) are the top team in Sub-Section 6AA-West.

In the final regular season game for the Prairie Centre Area boys hockey team, the North Stars were defeated by Northern Lakes at Pequot Lakes tonight by a final score of 4-0. On February 16, the Section 6A seeding will take place, and the North Stars will find out who they play for the opener.

Stay tuned for more.
