A rare but exciting feat takes place tonight - Streeters boys and girls basketball both blow Albany off the courts

An eye-opening final score from the Sauk Centre vs. Albany girls basketball game tonight: Streeters 89, Huskies 65. Albany's girls basketball team falls to 10-6 overall and 6-3 in the West Central North Conference.

The Streeters' girls basketball team's next action is tomorrow night (Jan. 28) at home against Paynesville Area.

In a very hostile environment at Albany, the Streeters boys basketball team defeated the Huskies 66-49. It's a huge conference win for Coach Ellens' squad, and it also gives Sauk Centre (11-5, 5-3 WCCN) a little momentum in terms of the sub-section seeding rankings. Of course, there's lots of season left and Sub-Section 6AA-East is certainly up for grabs. It's a little crazy considering they only won four games last year, but the Streeters boys basketball team is flirting with a #2 playoff seed.

Albany's boys basketball team is in a mini tailspin, as they have lost four of their last five games. The Huskies are 9-6 overall and 4-4 in the WCCN.

The Streeters' boys basketball team's next action is next week Tuesday, when they travel to Cathedral High School in St.Cloud. A very good Crusaders squad will take aim at the Streeters in a West Central North Conference game. The Crusaders are in Section 5AA, so it won't count much towards sub-section rankings, but it's still a very big game nonetheless.

Prairie Centre Area is now 7-11 overall. The North Stars host Detroit Lakes, a very good Section 6A team, on Friday night at Todd County Arena in Long Prairie. The Lakers are 9-8 overall.

Streeters' girls basketball picks up 15th win of the season over Long Prairie-Grey Eagle 64-26

The host Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Thunder girls basketball team fell to 3-13 overall this season with a 64-26 drubbing at the hands of the fourth-ranked Sauk Centre Mainstreeters girls basketball team tonight.

The Streeters improve to 15-1 overall and 9-0 in the West Central North Conference. The Thunder sits at the bottom of the pack with a 1-9 league record.

Up next for the Streeters' girls basketball team: a home game on Thursday night against I-94 rival Albany.  It is the first of three straight home games for the team.  The Huskies, who are 9-5 overall, are not out of the conference race by any means as they are 5-2 in the league, good for a virtual tie for second place with New London-Spicer.
