With a big 45-31 win over Minnewaska Area tonight, the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters girls' basketball team earns the West Central North Conference title outright for the second year in a row. Two years ago, the Wildcats shared the title with NL-S with 15-1 WCC-North records.
New London-Spicer lost to Melrose Area 41-32 to finish in second place at 6-4 in the conference. The Dutchmen also went 6-4 in the league. At halftime tonight, visiting Melrose Area led 23-9.
Sauk Centre finished 8-2 in the loop. In the last 6 seasons, the Mainstreeters have accumulated a 74-12 win-loss mark in the WCC-North!

Section 6A boys' hockey seeding is in - Prairie Centre Area is #8
The Prairie Centre Area North Stars open playoffs on Saturday night (Feb. 18) with a home game in Sauk Centre against #9 Morris/Benson Area at 7 p.m. Little Falls is the #1 seed.

Catching up...Streeter boys' basketball and North Stars hockey both win, SC-M wrestlers fall in playoff opener
In a game at Paynesville Area on Monday night in West Central North Conference action, the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters boys' basketball team defeated the Bulldogs 69-55 for their third win in a row. They take a 12-8 overall record into a lengthy break from action before traveling to Minnewaska Area next Tuesday, Feb. 21.
Tonight at Long Prairie, the Prairie Centre Area North Stars won their final game of the regular season by a 6-2 score over visiting Northern Lights (Pequot Lakes). They take a 14-10-1 overall record into tomorrow night's Section 6A seeding meeting. Check back here on Wednesday night to see how they were ranked for the playoffs. The 14 wins by the North Stars is the most since posting a 13-11-2 record in the 2007-08 season.
In the Section 6AA playoff opener, the Sauk Centre/Melrose wrestlers lost a play-in round match 43-21 to #8-seeded Princeton. The match was held at #1-seeded Foley tonight. The SC-M wrestlers continue playoff action with the Section 6AA individual tournament coming on Feb. 24-25 at Annandale high school.

Peschel scores 15 in return, Streeters dominate Morris

It was Peschel's first game back from knee surgery.
Macy Weller also had a good night with 17 points and Jena Klaphake and Krista Primus also nailed multiple three-pointers as Sauk coasted to the win to give them an 18-4 record on the season.
