Diving prelims began earlier this morning at 10 a.m. at the University of Minnesota-Morris P.E. Center, where the West Central Conference girls' swimming and diving meet is being held today.
Swimming races, which will include the diving finals during a break in action later today, begin at 2 p.m.
Teams competing against Sauk Centre include defending champion Melrose Area, Holdingford, Morris Area/Minnewaska Area/Chokio-Alberta and Montevideo.

Mainstreeters volleyball team wins playoff opener

The top-seeded Sauk Centre volleyball team (28-0) defeated Little Falls 3-0 tonight on their home court to advance in the Sub-Section 6AA-North tournament.
Up next: Melrose Area in the semifinal round next Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 6 p.m. in Cold Spring (Rocori high school). The Dutchmen swept visiting Pierz tonight 25-20, 26-24, 25-22 in their playoff opener.
In the other sub-section quarterfinal matches, the higher-seeded teams won 3-0. They include Long Prairie-Grey Eagle sweeping Minnewaska Area 25-19, 25-15, 25-18 but also Albany beating Holdingford 3-0.

Mainstreeters cross country teams seasons end at sections
At the Section 6A meet today in New London (Little Crow Golf Course), the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters Cross Country teams competed against a tough field of teams, including powerhouses such as Holdingford and Albany.
Madison Greenwaldt was the highest finisher for both squads by taking 15th in the girls' division. She missed out on making the state meet by one place.

Mainstreeters football season ends in section quarterfinals
The third-seeded Litchfield Dragons built a 26-0 halftime lead on their way to picking up a 40-6 win over the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters football team on Tuesday night. The Mainstreeters finished their season 2-7 overall and were seeded number six in the Section 6-3A playoffs.
The Dragons (4-5) advance to the semifinal round to play #2-seeded New London-Spicer in New London on Saturday.

The Mainstreeters volleyball team defeated BOLD 3-1 in Olivia on Monday night to improve to 27-0 and win the West Central Conference playoff title for the third straight year. BOLD falls to 13-12; they are the #2 seed in Sub-Section 2A-North.

Playoffs begin on Tuesday for the Mainstreeters football team
The 6th-seeded Sauk Centre Mainstreeters (2-6) open up the Section 6-3A football playoffs at 3rd-seeded Litchfield (3-5) on Tuesday night with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta (8-0) is the top seed and has a first-round bye.
