The Sauk Centre Mainstreeters fastpitch team lost 11-1 to a very solid Paynesville Area squad today, in a game held in Paynesville. The Mainstreeters battled through three scoreless innings with the Bulldogs before the hosts piled up 10 runs in the fourth inning.
Freshmen Elizabeth Ellens homered leading off the fifth for the Mainstreeters' lone run. They were held to only three hits by Paynesville's senior and veteran ace Whitney Woehler, who also earned five strikeouts to go against only one walk.
In Sauk Centre, the host Mainstreeters baseball team had a good showing against the always tough Bulldogs, only to fall in an 8-3 game.
The Bulldogs scored three runs in both the first and third innings to jump to a 6-1 lead. Mainstreeters' senior David Moe doubled and scored twice. Junior Pat Frericks also had a hit and an RBI for the Mainstreeters (2-3).

Sauk Centre Mainstreeters fastpitch softball takes an early 4-0 lead over New London-Spicer, wins 4-3

The Sauk Centre baseball team won 6-5 at New London-Spicer for their second win of the young season. All six runs scored were unearned. Senior Tyler Berling picked up the win on the mound in two innings of relief pitching, earning two strikeouts and giving up only one hit.
Senior David Moe put Sauk Centre ahead for good in the seventh with a squeeze bunt. NL-S had a chance to tie or possibly win the game in the bottom half of the seventh, but it couldn’t produce a run after loading the bases with just one out.
Senior Adam Polipnick led the Mainstreeters at the plate with a 2-for-4 performance, two doubles, and two RBI.
On Friday, the Mainstreeters fastpitch team travels to Paynesville Area for a non-conference game with the Bulldogs. Meanwhile, the Mainstreeters baseball team hosts Paynesville Area at the home diamond at 4:30.

Knoblauch strikes out 10 in relief
Michael Knoblauch, a sophomore left-handed hurler for the Mainstreeters recorded 10 outs in a relief appearance Tuesday and struck out all 10. He allowed a hit and a run, but every out he recorded was via a strikeout. The Streeters lost the game 5-2.
Knoblauch was able to locate all three of his pitches - fastball, curve and change up. He struck out the first batter he faced in relief of Tyler Berling and then struck out the side the next three innings.
Knoblauch has a 0.00 ERA in 4-2/3 innings so far this season with 12 strikeouts.

Both fastpitch and baseball Mainstreeter squads drop conference games to Foley
The Sauk Centre Mainstreeters baseball team lost to Foley 5-2 on the home diamond. The game was tied at 2-2 in the fourth inning before the Falcons (2-1 West Central North Conference, 3-2 overall) took the lead on a two-run home run.
Up next for the baseball team: a trip to New London on Thursday in another conference game.

Sauk Centre Mainstreeters baseball picks up first win of the season, defeats Milaca 3-2 on the home diamond
A pinch-hit, two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning by sophomore Derek Holm lifted the Sauk Centre baseball team into a 2-2 tie with Milaca. Holm then scored the go-ahead run on Shane Trattles' RBI-single to even the Mainstreeters' conference and overall record at 1-1.
