3-0!

The Sauk Centre Mainstreeters softball team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 5-3 win at Paynesville Area in West Central Conference action on Friday. The Mainstreeters took a 4-1 lead after one inning thanks to three Bulldogs walks, a hit batter and an error in the big first inning. They travel to Wadena-Deer Creek for a non-conference match up with the sub-section rival Wolverines.

W-DC is 0-1 after losing their season opener to Melrose Area by a 15-10 score on Thursday. Paynesville Area falls to 1-1 with the loss; they beat Montevideo 12-4 in their season opener on Thursday.

In their home and season opener, the Mainstreeters baseball team lost 5-1 to Albany. They host Paynesville Area on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

2-0!

The Mainstreeters softball team improved to 2-0 on the season with an 11-0, six-inning shut out win over visiting Benson/Hancock today. They travel to Paynesville tomorrow for a third straight game against a West Central South Conference opponent. The Bulldogs opened their season at Montevideo tonight.

Katelyn Durbin improved her pitching record to 2-0 while recording five strikeouts. Sauk Centre plated three runs in the first inning and put up another three in the second. Holding a 9-0 lead into the sixth inning, the game ended when pinch hitter Brooke Fetterer knocked a two-run home run over the left field fence on one out.

The Braves fell to 0-2.

Tomorrow is the home and season opener for the Mainstreeters baseball team. They host Albany at 5 p.m.

Opener success

In their season and conference opener on Tuesday, the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters softball team prevailed in shut out fashion against the BOLD Warriors by an 8-0 score.

The Mainstreeters got a four-hit performance from starting pitcher Katelyn Durbin, who had great support at the plate from her team. They host another West Central South Conference team, Benson-Hancock, on Thursday at 5 p.m. According to head coach TJ Schmiesing, that game will also be played on the JV field.

At Holdingford for the track and field opener, the Mainstreeters boys' squad earned runner-up honors behind the host Huskers. Holdingford had 247 team points compared to 141 for Sauk Centre.
