The Sauk Centre Mainstreeters baseball team lost 11-1 to the Melrose Area Dutchmen today on the home diamond. It was the season opener for both squads.
After giving up one run in the first inning, the Streeters loaded the bases in the bottom of the first but left all three runners stranded.
After falling behind 7-0, the Streeters plated their lone run in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI-single by Derek Holm.

Next week, the Mainstreeters will travel to Foley on Tuesday night and the host New London-Spicer on Thursday.

Streeters fastpitch softball picks up first win of the season
In a road game at neighboring rival Melrose Area today, the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters fastpitch softball team defeated the Dutchmen 11-8 to pick up their first win of the season.
Now 1-1 overall, the Streeters host St.Cloud Cathedral on Monday in another West Central North Conference game. It is a reschedule game from April 5, which was to be the season opener.

Fastpitch softball season is underway for the Mainstreeters
In their season opener on the home diamond Thursday, the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters fastpitch softball team was nipped in a close 8-6 loss to visiting Milaca in West Central North Conference action.
Junior Ashley Gruber led the Streeters with two doubles and two runs scored, with Kendra Zenzen also adding two doubles to help lead the Streeters' offense. Sauk Centre totaled seven hits, while Milaca earned 12 for the game.
The Streeters' are scheduled to face Melrose Area at Melrose today at 4:30pm. Upcoming home games are next Monday and Tuesday against St.Cloud Cathedral and Foley.
