The Sauk Centre Mainstreeters baseball team picked up an important 5-0 shut out win over host Albany tonight to improve to 5-4 overall and 3-2 in the West Central North Conference. Sauk Centre posted a 5-0 lead after four innings were in the book and rode the strong arm of senior Michael Knoblauch (IP-7, 10 Ks, 5 hits, 1 walk) the rest of the way for the big win.
In a home game, the Mainstreeters softball team lost 4-1 to WCC-North leading Albany.
**Update on Saturday...the Mainstreeters baseball team sits in a three-way tie for first place in the WCC-North with Minnewaska Area and Paynesville Area after Thursday night's action. Paynesville Area drubbed Minnewaska 11-1 to create a logjam at the top of the league.

Kranz leads Mainstreeters girls' golf at Albany
Morgan Kranz, a seventh grader, led the Sauk Centre girls' golf team in their fourth-place finish today at the Albany Golf Course in the third West Central North Conference meet of the year. The Mainstreeters shot a 216 as a team.
Kranz fired a 45 as one of 11 golfers to finish with a score in the 40s. Minnewaska Area's Jenna Janu was medalist with a 39.
Against the sixth-ranked team in Class 1A, the Mainstreeters baseball team lost 12-3 today to fall back to .500 on the season. They face another solid Class 1A team tomorrow when they travel to Elrosa to face the 6-4 Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars. B-B-E lost 4-3 in a nail biter at Holdingford earlier tonight.
