The Mainstreeters volleyball team won games one and two by identical 25-20 scores. They led 23-11 in game two before the Albany Huskies went on a 7-0 run to make it interesting.
In game three, the Mainstreeters jumped all over Albany, and in a matter of just five minutes, they led 10-1 after Macy Weller and Kendra Zenzen each earned solo ace blocks. The Mainstreeters won game three 25-12!
To start the final game, Macy Weller's kill made it 3-1 and started an 8-0 run that blew it open. Albany was struggling mightily with ball control and the Mainstreeters were making them pay. Jena Klaphake's ace serve put the Maroon up 7-1, a point that was followed by a kill through a block by Zenzen.
Senior Ashley Gruber was selected as the Gerard's Player of the Game. About her play tonight, Coach Klaphake commented, "Ashley is such a great athlete. She's very smart and doesn't hurt us with mistakes when she's on the floor. She implemented our game plan and was a big reason why we beat Albany tonight."
The Mainstreeters swimming and diving team won big over Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta/Minnewaska Area. They are now 5-0 in head-to-head competition this year.
