As a team, Sauk Centre's wrestling season is over. But individuals will march on toward the state tournament in early March with individual sections next weekend in Sauk Centre.
The Streeters lost to Holdingford 47-21 Tuesday in the section quarterfinals in Paynesville.
Tommy Latzka won by decision at 125 pounds and John Gusewelle won by pin at 189 pounds. Lucian Grow (152) and Tyler Walther (215) won by forfeit to make up for Sauk's 21 points.
Gusewelle looks to have the best shot at getting through sections and getting down to state. Shane Trattles (125) and Grow, both seniors like Gusewelle, also have chances to go.
If you haven't been to a wrestling meet this year, head to SCHS next Friday and Saturday. Post season wrestling, when everything is on the line — all the cutting weight, running the halls in layers of clothes, eating bananas for lunch and dinner, tireless work in the weight room — is about as intense as it gets.
You will get your moneys worth.
