In a strong upset bid, the Foley Falcons made for a very good opponent tonight, when they nearly beat the conference-leading Sauk Centre Mainstreeters volleyball team on the home court.
Foley was 4-10 overall not too long ago before going on a hot streak, winning a tournament at Leroy-Ostrander, sweeping a solid Pierz squad, and getting over .500 before coming to Sauk Centre. The Falcons (11-10) were 3-7 in the West Central North Conference (7th place) before giving the Streeters all they wanted.
Read all about the exciting win in next week's issue of the Sauk Centre Herald.
Up next: a trip into eastern Minnesota to Milaca, against a Wolves team that has only two wins since September 13.
They recently defeated New London-Spicer for their first conference win in two seasons and are 7-13 overall and 1-10 in the WCCN.
The Streeters, who have a half-match lead over Albany for first place in the conference, will be heavy favorites - but as we saw tonight, being favored does not guarantee the win by any means.
