The Sauk Centre/Melrose Area wrestling team finished in fourth place at the Fertile-Beltrami Tournament on Saturday. Their next action is next Tuesday, February 8, when they host Paynesville Area at Melrose. The JV action begins at 6:00pm.
Finishing in the top two places in their respective weight divisions for Sauk Centre/Melrose were: 135 - Corey Messer took second, losing a tough 8-7 decision in the championship. 145 - Devan Fischer placed second after losing a 14-1 major decision in the championship. On Friday night, the Prairie Centre Area North Stars boys hockey team earned a 2-2 tie in overtime at Mora/Hinckley-Finlayson. The North Stars are 7-13-1 with four games left on the regular season schedule.
The North Stars' next action is against Section 6A rival Wadena-Deer Creek next Tuesday, February 8. The action will be hosted at Todd County Arena in Long Prairie, with the puck dropping at 7:00pm.
Seeding for the Section 6A boys hockey playoffs will be held on February 16. The play-in round will be held on February 19 and quarterfinals on February 22.
