On Homecoming night for New London-Spicer, the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters football team seemed to have a good thing going after they led 6-0 through one quarter tonight.
Then the wheels fell off. And they came off quickly.
The Wildcats (5-1, 3-0 West Central North Conference) responded to the 6-0 deficit to score 21 points in both the second and third quarters and then for good measure, tacked on another 12 points in the fourth.
The Mainstreeters gained 146 total yards, but over one-fourth of them came on one play, a touchdown run for 38 yards by Roosevelt Austin.
NL-S ran for 218 yards and passed for 77 more while being plus-two in turnovers. Sauk Centre yielded one interception and one lost fumble.
