Mainstreeters cross country opens season at Morris - Gerhartz wins the boys' race
At the Pomme de Terre Golf Course in rural Morris, the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters cross country teams opened the 2011 campaign and had some very good results turned in.
The boys' squad finished seventh, with senior Jacob Gerhartz running away with the individual title. He ran a 16:36 to beat the runner-up by a whopping 24 seconds. Last year, according to Coach Trutna, Gerhartz ran a 17:26 at this meet.
The top female runner for Sauk Centre was eighth grader Madison Greenwaldt, who placed sixth with a time of 16:46.
Up next for the Mainstreeters harriers: a trip to Holdingford on Thursday, September 8.
